Clyde Edgar Wendler, 85, of Miami, Oklahoma died Monday, February 28, 2012.
Clyde was born January 5, 1927 in Stotts City, Missouri and was raised in Freistatt, Missouri.
On January 23rd, 1948 he married Betty Rawlings of Monett, Missouri. They lived and raised their family in Monett for the next 62 years. During their many years of married life they worked hard together to provide a good home for their family and also enjoyed travel, including many destinations in the United States and two trips to Europe. In 2010 they moved to Miami, Oklahoma to be closer to family.
Clyde was manger of Monett Printing Company for over 40 years until his retirement. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army as a Morse Code operator and instructor.
Clyde’s family will always remember and appreciate his faithful nature as father and husband, providing them with a good role model for hard work and character. He instilled in all of his children a love of gardening and travel. Many of the family’s best times were the yearly vacation to interesting places, including Canada and Mexico.
Clyde was a faithful servant of God and a member of the Monett congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include son Curtis Wendler from Houston, Texas; Daughter Gale Lee from Miami, Oklahoma; and seven beloved Grandchildren, Jennifer Hentkowski, Jessica Smith, Travis Malone, Phaedra Taylor, Clayton Wendler, Erin Wendler and Cassie Lee; and Nine Great Grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by daughter, Ann George; brother, Victor Wendler; and sister, Mildred Johnston.
Services will be held at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Saturday, April 28th at 1:00 PM.
