Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home was established in 1946 by Oliver and Lois Wormington and Gordon and Ruth Bennett (Oliver’s sister and brother-in-law_ on the foundation of personal, professional and compassionate service to Monett and the surrounding communities. Oliver and Gordon together continued this service until the passing of Oliver in 1956, at that time Oliver’s widow Lois stepped in to carry on the mission that her husband began. In 1974 Gordon Bennett Passed away and the business was purchased by Oliver and Lois’s son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Mary Ann Wormington.
Ron and Mary Ann dedicated their efforts to continuing to carry on the family tradition of caring and personal service started by Ron’s father and uncle. Both Ron and Mary Ann are lifetime residents of Monett as is their son Richard Wormington who purchased the funeral home in 2004 when his parents retired after 30 years serving Monett and the surrounding areas. Richard joined the business in 1985 after graduating from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, Texas. He worked alongside his parents until their retirement. He now carries on the proud family tradition started by his grandfather and great-uncle of persona, professional, compassionate and caring service to the families of his community and the surrounding areas. He personally meets and cares for each and every family that enters the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home whether it is to make a loved one’s final arrangements or to establish a pre-arranged funeral plan.
